Dr. Manya C. Whitaker and I co-edited an anthology, Counternarratives from Women of Color Academics: Bravery, Vulnerability, and Resistance (Routledge 2019). Along with our 28 contributors, we aim to challenge the dominant narrative about women of color in the academia as victims, instead offering stories of thrival, overcoming, self-definition, and resistance. Now that the edited volume has been published, we are working to spark dialogue in higher education through campus talks, reviews and blog posts, and social media engagement. You can follow our Facebook page @WOCResist. Also, see our press release (via Colorado College) and blog post (via “Conditionally Accepted” on Inside Higher Ed).
